Do I Need Upper Body Strength To Take Class?

Nope! That's exactly what classes are for; building strength and skills.

Intro classes are for absolute beginners to learn the basics. Conditioning classes are excellent for students of all levels, as those with more experience will be offered more challenging material. You don't need to be able to do a pull up to begin aerial training!

Is There a Minimum Fitness Level Required?

All levels and body types are welcome!

Individuals with limited mobility may find the pace of group classes challenging and may prefer one-on-one training.

We recommend that everyone consult their physician before beginning a new exercise program. Those with the following conditions must consult a doctor before participating in aerial acrobatics:

  • pregnancy
  • glaucoma
  • recent surgery (exp. shoulder, chest, eyes, back, hip, hand, or wrist)
  • heart disease
  • very high or low blood pressure
  • vertigo
  • osteoporosis/bone weakness
  • head injury/tbi
  • cerebral sclerosis
  • fainting/vasovagal syncopy
  • carpal tunnel
  • severe arthritis
  • sinusitis or head cold
  • hiatal hernia
  • disc herniation or degenerative disc disease
  • recent stroke
  • artificial joins
  • radiculitis
  • sciatica
  • severe muscle spasms

How are Classes Structured?

Classes are offered in monthly sessions (typically 4 weeks). Some sessions may be shorter due to holidays or instructor availability. If a session does not sell out, it may open for single-class sign-ups at the instructor’s discretion.

Enrollment for the following month opens two weeks into the current session, on Monday. Please refer to the class schedule for exact dates. Current students may request early enrollment the week prior (if they have an unused 4-class credit).

Do You Offer Youth Classes?

Children may not attend group classes. Only those 18+ may register for group classes, regardless of their physical condition and/or previous experience. Private lessons are available for students under 18. Please see Private Instruction for details.

We believe that playing is an essential part of happiness and health, one which is often left behind as we age. We're committed to providing a space for adults explore movement, play, and creativity.

Please respect this policy. Exceptions will not be made.

What Level Class Should I Take?

If this is your new to aerial arts, welcome! Start with an Intro or Conditioning class:

  • Intro: For absolute beginners
  • Conditioning: For all levels, with scalable difficulty

Students progress at their own pace and may repeat levels as needed. Ground skills and conditioning classes can help accelerate progress. If you think you are ready to move up, speak with your instructor.

I Have Previous Aerial Experience, Do I Have To Take An Intro Level Class?

Not if you’ve mastered the required prerequisites! These are listed on the Class Schedule. Once you’ve identified the appropriate level:

  1. Register in our system (Click Sign Up above)
  2. Email us confirming you meet the prerequisites and the class(es) you want to take.

We’ll update your account so you can enroll. If unsure, try a conditioning class or private lesson for placement guidance.

How Many Students Are in Each Class?

Yoga/Pilates classes: Max 8 students

Aerial classes:

  • 1–2 students per apparatus
  • 5–7 apparatuses per class
  • Max 3 students in the air at once for new material

Workshops may have different limits (see individual descriptions).

Can I Try a Single Class/Are There Free Classes?

We do not offer free classes or drop-ins. Single classes are available for advance sign-up.

If a class is full, you can join the waitlist (you must already have credit on your account). If a spot opens, you’ll receive an email but you must enroll yourself.

How Do I Sign Up?

  1. Click “Sign Up” to access CircusDB
  2. Create an account and sign the waiver
  3. Check availability under Sessions, Classes, or Workshops
  4. Purchase credits
  5. Enroll in your class

I Just Purchased the Credit, Why Can't I Sign Up?

You may not meet the age or skill prerequisites. All group classes are 18+, and prerequisites are listed on the class descriptions on the Class Schedule and in CircusDB.

Can I See Your Schedule Without Registering?

Do I Have to Sign Up Before I Arrive to Class?

Yes. All students must register and enroll before arriving. Credits must be purchased in advance, there is no front desk or on-site registration.

Is There a Wait List for Sold Out Classes?

Yes, for single classes and workshops (credit required). You’ll be notified by email if a spot opens, but enrollment is not automatic. You must sign yourself up.

How Do I View My Schedule, Past Classes, etc?

  1. Sign into your account
  2. Click on "View Account History" at the bottom of the page
  3. Click the tab you wish to view
  • Basics: Demographics and waiver. Please note: the credit section on this tab is INCORRECT
  • Visits: Past and pending classes
  • Payments: CORRECT number of used and avialable credits
  • Other Reg: Cancellations and wait lists
  • Log: Record of all activities in your account

I Want to Bring a Friend to Class, How Do I Register Them?

All students must have their own separate account in our online scheduling system.

This account must be created, and the included waiver signed by the student themselves or, if under 18, the student's parent or legal guardian. If the student is under 18, a parent or legal guardian must be present at their first class.

We can link family and friend accounts so that you only have to remember one password to sign everyone up and you can share credits between linked accounts. Please email us once all accounts have been created) to be linked!

Can I Bring a Guest or My Child to Watch Class?

No guests or observers inside the studio without instructor approval. Non-participating adults and children may wait in the hallway. children must be supervised by a non-participating adult at all times.

Do I Need to Bring My Own Yoga Mat, Blocks, etc.?

Yes. Please check the class descriptions for recommended props and bring your own, if possible. The Aviary has a limited number of mats, blocks, etc. which students may borrow, clean, and return at the end of class.

Can I Take Photos/Videos in Class?

Only with instructor permission. Do not record others without consent. Staff may take photos/videos for social media (students will not be tagged).

How Do I Audition for an Upcoming Aviary Performance?

How Do I Purchase and Rig My Own Equipment at Home?

Talk to your instructor first. Proper rigging requires specialized knowledge, equipment, and insurance. Unsafe setups can cause serious injury and may affect your homeowner’s insurance. Please see Rigging at Home for more details.

How Do I Know the Rigging/Equipment is Safe at The Aviary?

Yes. All rigging points are rated for 4,000 lbs and professionally installed. Equipment is sourced from trusted providers and inspected regularly.

Do You Offer Gift Certificates?

How Do I Contact the Aviary If I Have a Question That is Not Covered Here?

Please email us. While you are welcome to observe from the hallway during class, there is no front desk and instructors cannot interrupt class for questions.

Why Can't I Just Call You?

We are a micro-business without phone support. Email is the best way to reach us.
