Trapeze 3

This is a fast-paced class with an with an emphasis on technique, skill-building, and conditioning. Choreography will focus on movement efficiency and refinement, endurance, and artistry. Students new to this level will work toward building the strength, flexibility, and vocabulary needed to execute complex sequences. More experienced students can expect to develop a personal vocabulary of movement with mental and physical exercises designed to develop aerial problem-solving skills, (safe) experimentation and discovery, and the development of critical capacities.

PREREQS: 

  • Mastery of all level 1 and 2 prereqs

  • Tuck, pullover, and straddle inversions from ground without tagging the ropes

  • Back body balance

  • Single knee hang

  • Knee beats

Please bring: thick socks or trapeze boots


Pole 3

For advanced intermediate students who are ready to master their shoulder mounts, brass monkeys, and more complex sequences, this class is for you! We build a safe foundation so you can advance your pole skills injury free. Dancers in this class will learn tricks, movement sequences, and freestyle skills.

PREREQ:

  • Mastery of all level 2 prereqs

  • Hip hold move such as inside leg hang, allegra, or inverted V

  • Genie spin

  • Butterfly from any entry


 Pole Choreo and Flow 1

Find your flow with this 60-minute mixed-level choreography class! Choreography will combine low flow, floor work, and tricks (which can be adapted to your level/energy/vibe for that day). Connect with the music to bring out your inner performer. 

PREREQ:

  • Basic and forearm climb

  • Any three basic spins

  • Knee tucks on both sides

  • All genders are welcome in every class at the Aviary


Transition Mission 1

Sequence poses into sequences and smooth your transitions in this 60-minute mixed apparatus class! This is a mixed-level class and will offer material for levels 1 and up. Expand your vocabulary by learning the wonderful ways in which the same movements can be used on all apparatus. Perfect for students interested in or already planning a performance. Clean, polished transitions make you look like a pro!

PREREQ:

  • Not recommended for absolute beginners

  • Mount and dismount unassisted

  • Straddle invert (in air or on ground)

  • Mermaid

  • Star

  • Basic knee hang (from bar or knee wrap in silks/sling)

  • General body awareness with aerial experience from novice to advanced


Spinny Pole 1 - on hiatus

Discover the joy of spinny pole! Grow your dance practice with suspended shapes, climbs, and beginning inversions as we spin.

PREREQ:

  • Basic climb

  • Any 5 basic spins (toe spin, clock spin, front hook spin, back hook spin, ankle spin, etc.)


Dynamic Silks 2+ - Fundamentals & Sequencing

This class will help students explore dynamic movement (including small drops), transitions, and captivating sequences on aerial silks. Each 75-min class includes a warm-up, and conditioning exercises designed to target specific strength, mobility, and body awareness for dynamic movement. Sling will also be utilized as a conditioning aid.

PREREQ:

  • consecutive inverts in air

  • hip key and thigh hitch in air

  • Ability to remain in the air for at least 3 minutes

  • 30sec straight arm hang

  • 10sec bent arm hang
